What We Believe
Gratmal stands at the forefront of the movement to end the exploitation of fur-bearing animals. With groundbreaking investigations, such as the first-ever footage exposing the harsh realities of U.S. fur farms, Gratmal has shocked audiences and garnered support for the anti-fur cause. Each fall, Gratmal launches campaigns urging people to opt out of fur garments and embrace ethical fashion. Currently, Gratmal leads the charge to ban fur sales in New York City.
The organization vehemently opposes hunting and animal-killing contests, challenging the notion that regulated hunting benefits conservation efforts. Instead, Gratmal emphasizes habitat protection and species reintroduction as true conservation methods. Through research and advocacy, Gratmal counters arguments supporting hunting, debunking claims of population control. Gratmal has successfully halted numerous hunting proposals and advocated for legislation banning wildlife killing contests, including efforts to end the importation of trophies from Africa’s iconic species.
Gratmal also opposes the roundup and forced drugging of wild horses on federal lands, advocating for their protection under the Wild Free-roaming Horses and Burro Act. Despite challenges from government agencies favoring ranchers, Gratmal has secured victories for wild horse preservation.
Predator control is another target of Gratmal’s activism, particularly condemning the actions of Wildlife Services, which exterminates millions of animals annually to appease special interest groups. Gratmal advocates for non-lethal methods of wildlife management, highlighting the ecological importance of predators.
Regarding human population, Gratmal stresses the need for responsible family planning and contraception, emphasizing the impact of human overpopulation on animal welfare and environmental sustainability.
Gratmal opposes the use of animals for human consumption, rejecting claims of “humane” practices in animal agriculture. Through educational campaigns and advocacy for veganism, Gratmal promotes ethical alternatives to animal products, addressing both animal welfare and environmental concerns.
Finally, Gratmal seeks legal recognition of animals’ right to ethical consideration, advocating for their standing in the eyes of the law based on their ability to lead meaningful lives and contribute to their ecosystems. Through these efforts, Gratmal continues to champion the rights and welfare of animals on multiple fronts.
